Biography

Dr. Md. Harun-Or-Rashid is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at World University of Bangladesh (WUB), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his graduation from the University of Rajshahi, achieving first-class results in all academic examinations. He began his professional career as a Research and Development (R&D) Officer at Nipa Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mirpur-2, Dhaka, and was subsequently promoted to Quality Control (QC) In-charge. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of the Quality Control Department, new product development, analytical method development, and process validation.

He subsequently worked as a Research Associate in the Health Chemistry Laboratory at Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences (NUPALS), Niigata, Japan. His research focused on the project entitled “Characterization of Alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidase I and II from Starfish (Asterina amurensis) and Squid (Todarodes pacificus).” In addition to his research responsibilities, he taught undergraduate students and supervised their laboratory-based learning activities.

After returning to Bangladesh, Dr. Rashid joined the Department of Pharmacy at World University of Bangladesh as an Assistant Professor on 4 June 2009. Through his dedication to teaching, research, and academic service, he has progressed to the position of Professor and continues to contribute to the department’s academic and research activities.

He earned his PhD from the Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Health Chemistry Department at NUPALS, Niigata, Japan. His doctoral research was entitled “Molecular and Enzymatic Characterization of Alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidases from Starfish and Hilsha.” His academic and research interests include enzyme characterization, biochemical and molecular research, and pharmaceutical sciences.

Dr. Rashid has published numerous research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He has also actively engaged in collaborative research with students, providing academic guidance, research mentorship, and support for student development and extracurricular activities. His professional experience in pharmaceutical research and development, quality control, international research collaboration, university teaching, and student supervision reflects his commitment to advancing pharmaceutical education and scientific research.
