Biography

I am Dr. Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy, World University of Bangladesh. I have completed my graduation from Rajshahi University with first class in all academic examination and started the career as a Research and Development (R & D) officer at Nipa Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Mirpur-2, Dhaka. Afterward I got promoted as Quality Control (QC) In-charge. As the QC In-charge I was responsible for smooth operation of quality control department, new product development, analytical method development and process validation. I was also worked as a Research Associate under the research project “Characterization of Alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidase I and II from starfish (Asterina amurensis) and squid (Todarodes pacificus)” in the Health Chemistry Laboratory, Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences (NUPALS), Niigata, Japan. I also taught undergraduate student in the laboratory to handle their laboratory classes as the Research Associate. After returning to my motherland, I have joined as Assistant Professor on 4th June, 2009 in the Department of Pharmacy, World University of Bangladesh, Dhaka and now involved in research and academic activities in this Department. I completed my PhD in the Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Rajshahi, Rajshahi, Bangladesh, in collaboration with Health Chemistry Department, NUPALS, Niigata, Japan. My PhD research title was “Molecular and Enzymatic Characterization of Alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidases from Starfish and Hilsha”. 

I published a good number of articles in various national and international journal and conducting research work with students and providing mentoring and supporting student activities.
