Pharmacy is the study of medicine, looking at how drugs are created, their chemistry and interactions, and everything else a qualified pharmacist is required to know. For students who are interested in medicine, Pharmacy can be an excellent choice. The Department of Pharmacy, World University of Bangladesh has designed undergraduate and graduate programs to produce qualified, well trained and competent pharmacists for the advancement of national health and help to get suitable jobs. The B. Pharm. (Hons) program in WUB is designed to provide students with comprehensive and practical training for a career in pharmacy. The program is divided into eight consecutive semesters (Bi-semester in a year) along with 160 credit hours approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh. The department is enriched with qualified faculty members, well equipped laboratories with advanced research facilities and also library services containing a huge collection of books, articles and journals.

If you study pharmacy at WUB, you will typically take modules focusing on chemistry, biochemistry, human physiology, pharmaceutics (how medicines are made) and pharmacology (how drugs interact with the body). You will learn all about prescriptions, drugs, medications and clinical practice, and practice responding to different scenarios. The majority of skills that you will acquire relate directly to Pharmacy. You will acquire extensive knowledge of medicines, including their design, manufacture and effects, as well as knowing how to operate pharmaceutical instrumentation. Additionally, you will develop very strong professional skills in terms of interacting with patients, such as effective communication. Pharmacy degrees here are typically taught using a combination of lectures, seminars and practical exercises. Assessment is based on theoretical and practical examinations and course work.
